Kulturni programi

Cultural programme

The association’s most important cultural programme is the Mediterranean Sculpture Symposium, an artist residency for sculptors, painters and/or architects founded in 1969. The first symposium was held in 1970 as part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the Labin Republic. So far 45 symposia have been held, the most recent in 2024, and the 46th is in preparation. More than 100 Croatian and international artists have taken part, creating 74 sculptures, the 16 sections of the White Road and 18 sculptures located outside the park.

Razvoj publike

Audience development

After the archive was organised, we launched an audience development programme, which we have been running continuously since the beginning of 2019. On an educational walk through the sculpture park, children and young people learn about the artists who made the sculptures and explore the sculptures in the park. They then express themselves in a reflective creative workshop, using one of the techniques suggested by the programme leader.

Matija Ferlin

Accompanying events

The sculpture park is an ideal place for other cultural and artistic events such as concerts, film nights and theatre. The “Evenings in Dolac” series was created for performing arts events; in 2019 we hosted the award-winning Matija Ferlin with his performance Staging a play: Antigone.

Radionica mozaika

Mosaic workshop

A mosaic workshop at Dubrova took place in September 2019, led by Zdravko Milić, an academic painter who was a full professor at the Academy of Applied Arts in Rijeka. The workshop is intended for students and young artists; Marina Rajšić, Alison Ivašić and Mia Knežević were invited to take part.

Turistička valorizacija Parka

Developing the park for tourism

Dubrova Sculpture Park offers the opportunity to create activities for foreign visitors to the Labin–Rabac–Sveta Nedelja destination and Istria as a whole. In 2019 a systematic approach to developing the park for tourism was launched. After the complete branding of the park was created, the sculptures were labelled and linked to the park’s website through an interactive map of the park.

Zaštita skulptura

Protecting the sculptures

Since 2018 we have been running a programme to protect the sculptures. It covers repair and protection and, where needed, restoration and cleaning the stone of organic growth, deposits, moss and the like. The final goal is to protect all the sculptures created at the sculpture symposium, both from the weather and from vandalism, since they stand in a public space.

Info centar Dubrova

Info centre

Info centre Kocka is where visitors get information about the park and can see the exhibition on display. It is open Monday to Friday, 9:00–15:00, all year round.

Easter Monday at Dubrova Sculpture Park

Dubrova was full of play from the early morning hours of this Easter Monday, when groups of parents and children headed to the sculpture park. There they found a real paradise for children – and for the grown-ups too. In the relaxed atmosphere of fresh nature, today it was above all the children who led the game, with their parents close behind. And as never before, the park was taken over by small groups scattered…
